A new visa will allow parents to stay in Australia temporarily, but will not allow them to apply for permanent residency.

If changes are approved by Parliament, visa applicants will be able to access a three – year visa for $5,000 or a five – year visa for $10,000 with a single renewal for a further five years at the same price.

Parents will have no access to Medicare and their children would need to cover the private health insurance costs.

Please do not treat my post as legal advice because the legislation has not yet passed. This is for your information only to keep you informed about developments in this visa stream.
